The tea originally comes from China, where it has been cultivated for approx. 2500 years. In China, tea is still drunk at every meal and many times a day.Long before the "real" tea came to Denmark, a kind of tea brewed from berries and herbs was drunk - some of these teas still exist, e.g. chamomile tea.
We do not know exactly when the traditional tea came to Denmark, but there are many indications that Denmark followed the other European countries. There is historical documentation for teapots in Denmark from 1665.
